NUMBER 101 JULY/AUGUST, 2002
HARRY HODSDON
As a result of our write up on Fiji, we received a number of comments which we appreciate. It has become clear that I managed to confuse some of you into thinking that Harry still lives at Buderim. I reported that he and his wife, Esmé retired not far from where we now operate the business. I omitted to tell you that both of them died some years ago. Both in their early 80s.
CHANGE OF POLICY ON SOLD OUT NEW ISSUES
It has become increasingly difficult to carry the correct amount of stock of new issues so that we can fill all orders, but not finish up with too much stock left over. This is not normally a problem with our agency countries, because we do carry large quantities. It is more difficult with countries such as Micronesia, Palau and our bird issues as well as the WWF. It is almost impossible to judge the popularity of these. We are therefore establishing a new policy that we will back order any of these provided the orders have been placed by the time the date on Page 2 expires. From now on we will acquire enough stock even if it means back ordering of all issues unless we specifically say that it is a limited issue which cannot be replaced.
So whenever a current new issue sells out we will back order and keep the necessary quantities for those people who have ordered, to be sent with their next order. Should there not be a next order within two months we will then mail to you. If you do not want us to supply items on back order, please say so.
MICRONESIA & PALAU AND WWF ISSUES
Over the last 6 months we have had many occasion where issues from these two countries were sold out. We have recently restocked all issues from the beginning of the year 2000 onwards. So if you missed out on any of these and care to reorder we should be able to help you.
NEW ZEALAND INPERFORATE QUEENS GOLDEN JUBILEE
These stamps in se-tennant strips were available in a limited quantity. They are now sold out, however we still have some sheets of 25 available at $209 per set of 6 sheets.
We have also decided to cut up a few of those sheets to create sets of single stamps and corner blocks of 4. These are now available at $12.00 for a set of singles and $48 for a set of 6 x 4 corner blocks. Imprint corner blocks which also contain the colour registrations in the form of crowns, will cost $55.
PNG STAMP CENTENARY
This issue which is listed on Page 3 is printed in two different formats. In conventional sheets of 25 stamps and as sheetlets or mini sheets each containing one set. We have distributed the sheetlets to our customers on the grounds that you can always tear them up into single stamps. For those customers who have an order for a corner block plus one we have sent two sheetlets. We feel that the trend in PNG stamps will be towards producing most issues in this sheetlet format and corner blocks will become a thing of the past. For those ardent corner block collectors we can supply a limited number on request.
