THE GOOD NEWS
When we receive an issue from one of the Pacific Islands, which is long overdue, we cheer.
Last Month it was Samoa, which after a year’s absence produced their WWF Local Bird Issue.
This month it is Nauru with their WWF Frigate Bird issue. Details of which you must read below.
The Kingdom of Tonga has also come good with a new set of stamps, plus mini sheet. Both these country’s issues were twelve months overdue, but we are happy to receive them and we are hoping for more regular distributions in the future.
In the next issue we would like to be able to announce arrivals from other countries, which are also overdue. They would include Kiribati, French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna. All of which are now running several months behind schedule. We are hoping for Christmas surprises!
NAURU – WWF GREATER FRIGATE BIRD
This issue takes the form of the typical WWF format. In other words, the stamps are printed in sheetlets of 16 containing 4 sets of 4 which are normally collected in strips of 4. However the stamps are also printed in conventional sheets of 50 of each value. The collectors of corner blocks will be happy about this.
What was not announced but found to be the case, was that there is a slight difference in perforation along the horizontal line. The WWF format uses perforations 13 and the sheet format has 13.25.
We appreciate that only a few collectors will want both perforations. We have generally distributed set from the sheets, except those who have orders for multiples of 4. Anyone who wants both, please let us know at your earliest convenience. The price is the same. The CTOs are all from the big sheets of 50. Also available are the WWF produced sets of Maximum Cards and sets of 4 FDCs. Both of them are $9.00 per set. These are NOT listed on page 3 as we ran out of room.
LATE ARRIVAL
After we had completed pages 2 and 3 we received the next issue from Papua New Guinea. These are the Volcano issues 2009. As we had shuffled the contents of these pages several times already, we made the decision to take a short-cut and list them right here.
