The Warbler

                                    NUMBER 161                                                           SEPTEMBER 2010

BUTTERFLIES

For a change, we list Butterfly stamps and minisheets on page 4 instead of Birds. As the description on every one of them contains the word “Butterfly” we have included the SG Number instead.
There will be Birds again in Warbler 162.

NIUE

We list the first issues for more than two years. There has been a change in the Management of Niue Philatelic production. It is once again being controlled by New Zealand, just as it was from 1902 to 1974.
The first three issues under the new arrangement are listed on Page 3.

KIRIBATI AND SOLOMON ISLANDS

As we go to Press, we are waiting for several other Islands’ issues which are overdue. We have been
assured by the above two Countries that the next lot is on its way. This applies to New Issues and Back Orders.
We do not have any reliable news from Nauru, Cook Islands or Tonga at the moment, even though we are actively pursuing these as well.

Five Dealers – Bargain Table – Sale by Tender – 18 Clubs – Raffle – Lucky Door – Prizes
Refreshments Available. Enquiries phones Mrs Jill Hughes on 07 5494 7233

Come along and meet Gerry in person as Pacific Stamps will be one of the five Dealers there.

NEW POSTAGE RATES FOR AUSTRALIA POST
After a few years, the local post rate has been changed from 55cents to 60 cents and all other rates have been increased as well. This has a few consequences. Firstly Australia Post has had to reschedule its list of issues as the new rates had to be incorporated on the stamps. Pacific Stamps standard postage rate will not change this time, however, non-standard items such as accessories are likely to be affected.

KOKODA JOINT ISSUE WITH PNG
We have now received all the PNG stamps and minisheets with the FDC’s. However one item is still missing, namely the Joint Pack containing both the Australian and PNG stamps and minisheets.

TUVALU – TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS
Early this year Air Pacific stopped its regular service from Fiji to Tuvalu. Since then the stamp issues from Tuvalu have been suffering from various delays as the only method of air transport is provided by chartered courier flights. Our last lot came courtesy of DHL.
